Summary Profile

Senior consultant psychiatrist Dr. Xavier Kanyambari Butoto is registered with the Rwanda Medical and Dental Council (RMDC). He completed his medical undergraduate studies at the erstwhile National University of Rwanda and earned his medical master’s degree in psychiatry from Cheik Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal. As well as sub speciality in child and adolescent psychiatry obtained from“Universite catholique de louvain “ in Belgium.

Dr. Xavier has great interest in child and adolescent psychiatry and addiction psychiatry and addiction psychiatry . He has served for 20 years in the field of mental health as s general practitioner and as the psychiatrist at Neuropsychiatric hospital of Ndera and Huye Isange Rehabilitation Center where he occupied the position of acting director general before being appointed as director of clinical services , a position that he holds up to now .

Dr. Xavier also teaches the module of child and adolescent psychiatry to post graduate medical doctors specializing in psychiatry at the university of Rwanda . He is now working as a part time psychiatrist at Kigali psycho-medical center (KPMC).
